You suspect that getting on the wrong side of Antonio Conte would be bad news. The Mill reckons he knows that move where cold-blooded hitmen in films just chop the side of your neck and kill you – he doesn’t use it, but he’ll let you know it’s an option, just in case. With that in mind, we wouldn’t want to work in the Chelsea transfer team at the moment, with Conte supposedly irked that they haven’t bought him the players he wants. Perhaps with that fear of retribution in mind, it sounds like they might be pulling their collective fingers out and making a £25m bid for one Giorgio Chiellini. They’re still keen on Southampton’s José Fonte, as José Mourinho surveys the available central defensive options and decides they aren’t quite his tempo. Chris Smalling apparently fears this might hamper his England chances so is at least glancing towards the exit door with the corner of his eye, while if Phil Jones is released into the wild, Stoke City will be there to gather him in their arms and care for him.
