Manchester United lost their third consecutive game after Watford ran out deserving 3-1 winners.
The hosts took the lead at Vicarage Road through Etienne Capoue’s fourth goal of the season in the first half, with Watford by far the better side.
United grew into the game in the second half, and thought they had rescued at least a point when Marcus Rashford equalised just after the hour mark.
But Juan Camilo Zuniga swept home after a flowing Watford move on 83 minutes, having only just come on as a substitute, to pile yet more misery on Jose Mourinho and United after back-to-back losses against Manchester City and Feyenoord.
Troy Deeney then added insult to injury with a penalty in stoppage time to make the score 3-1, and hand Watford their first home win of the season.
