Dikko closes FIFA DTMS: charges clubs to embrace the new system

The FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) workshop came to a climax on Thursday, 17th November 2016, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja. The event which began in the nation’s Capital City on Tuesday, was meant to impact on the participants latest techniques on players’ transfer dealings. The latest participants to acquire the new skills in the transfer methodology were the Nigeria National League Clubs’ representatives.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the League Management Company, Mallam Shehu Dikko charged represented clubs to embrace the new system and take it seriously; stating that the era of manual transfer of players has come and gone.
“The days are gone, when you file in for transfer of players incorrectly and you expect to get wavers; with the current system you must do it right, otherwise, the whole process will be voided and you will have to start all over again. So you must have to do the right thing,”
The league Boss, who also doubles as the 2nd vice President of the NFF also admonished the clubs as part of suggestions to foster the advancement of the DTMS in the country, on the need to train more people to be involved with this system in the future.
“We are trying to get more people to be involved with the system, so we suggest that when you get back, ensure that you train more people who will be involved with it in the future.”

“We are going to make a regulation that will require every club to appoint an Assistant TMS Manager that should be below the age of 26 years, who must be a graduate and computer literate, to be trained for this purpose. That’s the only way we can think of the future, and preserve this legacy.”
In reacting to the training/workshop, some of the participants see the new era as a welcome development in the nation’s league football transfer dealings. While congratulating the NFF and the LMC, the Chairman of Nasarawa United FC, Barrister Isaac Danladi sees the event as illuminating and the forward in modern football.
“The whole process has so far been illuminating, and the knowledge gained from it cannot be over emphasized. It leaves the clubs better equipped to run football in line with FIFA requirement.”
The team Manager of FC Ikorodu United Harry Balogun maintained that the new era, if properly handled will eliminate discrepancies and shadiness surrounding transfer of players both domestically and internationally.

“This is a good step in the right direction, and if the process is handled properly, it will eliminate all shady deals in our transfer system both nationally and internationally.”
The climax of the closing ceremony was the presentation of customized national team jerseys to the FIFA TMS Officials by the LMC Chairman.
