England Team News & Preview

England host Spain in an international friendly at Wembley on Tuesday night and Gareth Southgate will be eyeing his first major scalp as the manager of the three lions.

Southgate is still an interim manager and a win over Spain could give him a great chance of succeeding Sam Allardyce permanently.  So far, England have won two and drawn one of their three matches under the guidance of Southgate and the former Middlesbrough manager will be looking fix England’s poor head-to-head record against La Roja tonight.

England have some of the brightest talents in world football right now and those players are being coached by the best managers at club level. This will be a great chance for them to showcase their pedigree on an international stage.

The likes of Klopp, Mourinho, Guardiola, Wenger, Pochettino, Ranieri have done extremely well to improve a lot of English players over the last few months and it will be interesting to see how England approach a big game like this.

England are set to be without star striker Harry Kane, who has only just returned to training with Tottenham. Liverpool star Jordan Henderson is all set to captain his country after confirmation that Wayne Rooney will not start.

Predicted England Starting Lineup (4-3-3): Hart; Clyne, Stones, Cahill, Rose; Wilshere, Henderson, Lallana; Rashford, Vardy, Lingard

Spain Team News & Preview

Spain have found their rhythm under new manager Julen Lopetegui and La Roja are in scintillating form right now. They have now scored 17 goals and have conceded just once in their last five matches and they will look to continue their fine form with a statement win at Wembley.

Spain have done very well against England lately and have won four of their last five meetings against the three lions. The only defeat for them was in 2011, when England secured a 1-0 win at Wembley.

Spanish football is at its peak right now and the international team will look to get back to its former glories after some disappointing showings in the World Cup 2014 and 2016 Euros.  The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have been dominating club football over the last few years and the Spanish stars will look to carry that form into the international stage as well.

As far as the team news is concerned, Diego Costa missed Spain’s win over Macedonia with an injury and has returned to Chelsea. The likes of Alvaro Morata and Aduriz are pushing for a starting spot.

Predicted Spain Starting Lineup (4-3-3): De Gea; Roberto, Nacho, Bartra, Azpilicueta; Koke, Busquets, Herrera; Mata, Aduriz, Silva
