Gov. Dankwambo vows to pay Gombe Utd players, coaches all entitlements

The Executive Governor of Gombe State Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, OON has reiterated his government’s resolve to revive newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Gombe United.

The club sponsor made this known during a courtesy visit paid to him by the Management Board alongside technical
crew, players and supporters of the club.

The governor pledged to pay off all the backlog of match bonuses, sign-
on fees and travelling allowances accrued for the players, technical crew and other supporting staff.

The payment, in his won words, will act as “glucose that revives lost stamina”.

The governor appreciates the efforts of the new Management Board in ensuring the realisation of the primary set target by returning the club to the Premier League.

He went on to eulogise the Management Board and affirms that the government and people of Gombe State are proud of them, the Management Board have lifted the name of Gombe State high.

He urged the board to keep up with the tempo by winning at worst a continental ticket from the upcoming 2016/17 NPFL
season.

He also vowed that the government will continue to support the club morally and financially, even as he urge the Management Board to explore other means of sourcing funds from individuals (including him) and corporate organisations, as stipulated in the law establishing the club.

While describing himself as “number one supporter of Gombe United Football Club”, he alluded that supporters like
him should contribute to the sustenance of the club.

Earlier on in his speech, Gombe United’s General Manager, Alhaji Salihu Ahmad Sa’ad, thanked the governor for the
support given to the club which invariably was the catalyst behind the recent successes achieved by the club.
