Former Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars, are inching closer to securing the signatures of four players from rivals, Enyimba.
After putting five players on the transfer list ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, Enyimba quartet of Chinedu Udoji, Kamal Sikiru, Emmanuel Anyanwu and Abdulrasak Aliyu have agreed on personal terms with the Kano club.
However that the deals for the players, now free agents following the expiration of their contracts with former Caf Champions League winners, Enyimba, is not cast in stone yet as the four men are expected to officially sign for two to three years each.
It is believed that the recent hiring of former Enyimba manager, Kadiri Ikhana, by Kano Pillars may have influenced the decisions of the four players to move to the north following a disappointing last season with the Aba club in the NPFL especially.
The potential signing of the four players by Kano Pillars will represent a huge coup in the Nigeria top-flight as Udoji, captain of Enyimba and Anyanwu are the Aba club’s first-choice centre-backs.
Kano Pillars finished last season in seventh place in the top division and are now looking to challenge for the title next term by bolstering their squad.
