Rooney to miss out despite Ibrahimovic ban – reports

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is set to miss out on Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up against Arsenal despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s suspension, according to reports.

Rooney is facing the prospect of another match on the bench with Marcus Rashford understood to be Mourinho’s preferred choice for this game.

The England international has only started once in United’s last six Premier League matches and the Daily Mirror claims that “opt for pace and youth up front” against Arsene Wenger’s men.

Rooney has had an eventful week, playing a key role in England’s 3-0 victory over Scotland before being pictured looking worse for wear after reportedly drinking at a private party in the team hotel.

Reports suggest that the revelations will lead to a booze ban and a curfew for Engand players on future international breaks.

Rooney was allowed to leave the camp ahead of the Spain friendly on Tuesday with a minor knee injury and that could be another reason for his reported benching.
