Watford chairman Raffaele Riva quits as club deny takeover allegations

• Chief executive Scott Duxbury to replace Raffaele Riva
• Watford say their own findings dismiss allegations over banking document

Raffaele Riva is to step down as Watford’s executive chairman, while the Premier League club have proclaimed their innocence in the light of recent allegations over the club’s takeover.

Both the English Football League and the club opened investigations last month following allegations, reported in the Daily Telegraph, surrounding Gino Pozzo’s sole takeover in 2014, and the alleged use of a forged banking letter.
