Katsina United count of Eleje’s aerial power vs El Kanemi

Katsina United will hope the aerial prowess of striker Obinna Eleje will unsettle the defence of hosts El Kanemi Warriors when both teams clash Wednesday in continuation of the NPFL.

Former Warri Wolves and Enyimba striker Eleje is one of Katsina United’s star signing for this season and started the team’s first two matches.

Coach Bala Nikyu rested the big centre-forward for Sunday’s 1-0 home win over Nasarawa United.

“His aerial power will be very useful for us against El Kanemi and their tall defenders,” said Nikyu, whose inspired substitute Suleman Musa ‘Ronaldo’ was the match-winner on Sunday.

The 25-year-old striker is one of the most experienced strikers for Katsina United having also played for Swiss side FC Wallen for a year.

‘The Changi Boys’ are eighth on the NPFL table with six points from two matches, while El Kanemi is 13th after they won their first match of the new NPFL season by beating Wikki Tourists 2-1 at home Thursday.

Ex-Kano Pillars and Gombe United midfielder Samuel Mathias put them in front against Wikki after only eight minutes.

Former Ikorodu United ace Chinedu Onyelonu drew the visitors level after 23 minutes, before Abraham Audu restored El Kanemi lead six minutes from half-time.

The Maiduguri club lost their opening match of the season 2-1 at Rivers United.

And at the weekend, they fell 1-0 at champions Enugu Rangers.
