Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi suffered defeat on his Premier League debut as Chelsea returned to winning ways following a comfortable 3-0 win against champions Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Marcos Alonso scored twice, while Pedro put the gloss on the score line for dominant Chelsea.
Chelsea were without the in-form Diego Costa who was left out of the squad.
Ndidi featured in his first league game for the Foxes following his impressive performance against Everton in the FA Cup last weekend.
Also in action for Leicester was Ahmed Musa whose brace against Everton earned him a starting place, while Victor Moses was on from the start for Chelsea.
The win keeps Chelsea seven points ahead of second place Tottenham Hotspur in the league table.
Musa almost gave Leicester the perfect start in the second minute after he was played in by Jamie Vardy but Thibaut Courtois saved his low shot.
Chelsea recovered from the early scare and broke the deadlock in the 12th minute through Alonso who fired from 12 yards after he was teed up by Eden Hazard.
In the 35th minute Vardy went close to drawing Leicester level after drilling in a cross which Courtois tipped behind Musa, who was waiting to pounce.
Chelsea doubled their lead through Alonso again in the 51st minute as his 18-yard strike took a deflection before beating Kasper Schmeichel.
Alonso almost grabbed his hat-trick on 64 minutes only to see his superb volley narrowly miss the target.
Chelsea continued to dominate and got the third goal through Pedro on 71 minutes who headed into an empty net after Willian's cross bounced off Schmeichel before falling kindly to Pedro.
With three minutes left Christian Fuchs almost grabbed a consolation goal for Leicester after sending in a volley which Courtois did enough to stop it from going in.
