Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that an on-going calf problem has been the cause for Emre Can's indifferent form this season, rather than any off-field matters regarding his contract. The German's current deal at Anfield expires in the summer of 2018, but whilst it's now less than 18 months until his contract is up, the Liverpool hierarchy have yet to begin any negotiations with the player about a possible extension.
