Ifeanyi Okoye earns three points for Tornadoes

Niger Tornadoes came back to winning ways after their 2-0 loss in far-away Maiduguri, the Ikon Allah spent more than an half hour to go 1-0 at home in Lokoja, when Ibrahim Babawo was hacked inside the box.

The Ifeanyi Okoye who missed the last match due to card accumulation comfortably send the Akwa United Emmanuel Iwu goalkeeper to the wrong side of the post, making 1-0 for the home side .

Aremu Azeez Indi finished Otonbong Effiong’s header-on but, Sunday Akinmoladun ruled out his strike for onrushing Ubong Friday who was caught offside.

At the resumption of the interval, Akwa United held on to the ball with Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Alhassan Ibrahim dictating play but effort to restore parity did not materialized with Niger Tornadoes back line and industrious midfielder, Bolaji Adeyemo held them at bay.

Meanwhile Odeyemi continue to torment the Akwa United back line, as a free-kick won by the former Kogi united and El-Kanemi Warriors from a Godspower Igudia challenge, Lukas Yahaya crashed a free-kick off the bar in the 50 minutes of the encounter.

Niger Tornadoes’s final threat was a late Hussaini Isah corner that almost gave the home team 2-0 lead, but Wakili went wide of the post.

The win gave Niger Tornadoes 6th position on the parking order with 21 points from 14 games played so far this season, they face Sunshine Stars at home for the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 15 on Sunday next week.
