Former Super Eagles goalie Vincent Enyeama ruled out of the season

Vincent Enyeama’s season has ended with French club Lille after he injured his knee and he will now have to undergo surgery.

Enyeama, whose comeback to the Super Eagles is now a national debate, ruptured his knee during his team’s 2-0 loss to Rennes.

Lille coach Franck Passi said the 34-year-old goalkeeper will undergo arthroscopy of the knee that will keep him out for the rest of the French Ligue 1 season.

This season, Enyeama has made 32 appearances, keeping eight clean sheets and letting in 40 goals.

Lille are battling relegation and are just eight points from the drop zone, but a win on Saturday over Montpellier will be much needed.

Ex-Enyimba star Enyeama, who had 101 caps for Nigeria before retiring in 2015, has played 34 times for Lille this season in all competitions.
Enyeama missed last Saturday’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Guingamp after having kept goal in all but one of Lille’s league matches this season.

Lille are 12th in the Ligue 1 table with 40 points from 34 matches.
