José Mourinho questions Manchester United’s Christmas fixture ‘congestion’

• United face three games in eight days over festive period
• Mourinho also confirmed Morgan Schneiderlin has asked to leave

José Mourinho has questioned the Premier League’s fixture policy during the festive period, with Manchester United having to play three games in three days’ less than leaders Chelsea.

The Portuguese’s side host Sunderland on Boxing Day, Middlesbrough on New Year’s Eve and travel to London to face West Ham United on 2 January, while Chelsea will host Bournemouth and Stoke City on the first two corresponding days but then wait until 4 January for the short trip across the capital to Tottenham Hotspur.
