Following the successful protest of the Super Falcons of Nigeria that led to their owed allowances been paid, the players of Taraba State’s male and female football teams, Taraba FC and Taraba Queens, on today shut down activities at the government house in the state capital, Jalingo, to protest non-payment of backlogs of their salary
arrears.
The players are demanding immediate payment of over 20 months’ salary arrears from the Taraba State Government.
Security operatives were deployed to the government house to deny the players access into the building. The gate of the government house has since been shut.
Unlike the falcons the players were tear gassed but the players vowed to spend nights at the gate until they are paid.
this will not be the first time players will embark on protest, few months ago when the male team was in the summit league, they embarked on protest for days.
