Bayelsa United top the NNL table

Delta Force Football Club of Asaba slumped to its second defeat of the on-going 2016/2017 Nigeria National League Season, Southern Conference after losing by a lone goal to former Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Bayelsa United at the Nembe City Stadium, Nembe, Bayelsa State.

The Restoration Boys scored the only goal of the scintillating encounter in the twenty sixth minute after Isah Ismail the goalkeeper for Delta Force failed to handle a cross which Bayelsa United  danger man Samuel Akinbinu slotting loose ball into an empty net.

The Delta Ambassadors however came out fighting and almost got an equalizer after Japhet the goalkeeper for Bayelsa United spilled a free-kick taken by the Captain of Delta Force, Ikechukwu Udeze with the Coach Peter Niekiten tutored side failing to convert the chance.
 
Delta Force took total control of the game in the second half as they pegged their hosts to their own half for about thirty minutes of the second half but failed to capitalize on their superior play while
churning several begging chances late in the game to fall to their second defeat of the season as well as conceding the second goal so far this season.
 
The victory over Delta Force catapulted Bayelsa United to the top of the NNL Southern Conference table, with heartland of Owerri forcing hosts Paipilo FC also of Owerri to a 1-1 draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in an Owerri derby.

Other results from the week ten encounter saw Insurance of Benin trouncing visiting Crown Football Club of Ogbomosho 3-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City just as AS Racine and First Bank FC played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Agege Stadium in a Lagos derby.
 
Unicem Rovers Football Club of Calabar pipped promotion chasing Go-Round Football Club of Omoku, Rivers State by a lone goal at the Ikom Township Stadium, Ikom, Cross Rivers State with Abia Comets of Umuahia defeating Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta by a lone goal at the Umuahia Township stadium.
 
The encounter between Warri Wolves and My People FC will go ahead today at the Warri City stadium to round up week ten of the NNL.
