World first as video assistant referee called into action in Wellington and Sydney FC stalemate

The video assistant referee was called into action for the first time in the A-League – and anywhere in the world – during a 1-1 draw between Wellington and league leaders Sydney FC on Saturday.

Wellington snatched a share of the spoils late on through Michael McGlinchey’s injury-time header, cancelling out a 70th-minute Bôbo penalty awarded in ground-breaking fashion.
